Required Masterdata Setup for APO DP.

CVCs are the essential master data for APO-DP.

For Example: Demand Planning requires sales history to get the forecast values.
This history gets extracted from a suitable source i.e CRM or ERP systems and loaded into an infocube in APO built in BW.
Now we can genarate CVCs based on this loaded sales history.

The transaction code for generating CVC's from an Info Cube is /SAPAPO/MC62 ;

Example CVC: Product,Location,Region,Quantity,Deliverydate(P1,L1,R1,2400,'15-Jan-2016')

There are different options availble to create CVCs.

Create Single Characteristic Combination
Create Characteristic Combination -
- Create Manually
- Load to Work list with data source as MPOS or Info provider, or Source file or Business Add-In.
- Generate Immediately with data source as MPOS or Info provider or Source file or BAdi.
- Generate in Background with data source as MPOS or Info provider, or Source file or BAdi.

1. Maintenance of CVCs(Characteristic Value Combinations).
2. Generation of Proportional Factors.
3. Selections.

1. Maintenance of CVCs(Characteristic Value Combinations):We can use this function to create several CVCs either online or else as a 'work list' from which these CVCs can be created later using the background job.But before this make sure that the corresponding MPOS has been created and activated. We can even create a single entry for CVC. Once created you can view, edit or delete entries

Options to delete CVCs from APO-DP.

2.Generation of Proportional Factors:Using Proportional factors we can dis-aggregate the data from aggregated level to detailed one.Two types of calculations can be used here.

P- Based on the another key-figure
                         I- Pro-rata expect for the initial dis-aggregation.

Note:For both the case you must enter APODPDANT as dis-aggregation key figure in PA.

3.Selections:Known as a selection ID or a selection variant, groups together objects that are planned by a demand planner in one planning run. For example, a selection may contain all the brands and products in the region for which the demand planner is responsible.

What is demand planning and forecasting?

Demand planning and forecasting is a business process that involves predicting future demand for products and services and aligning production and distribution capabilities accordingly. It involves a number of different business functions and requires the sharing of timely data, accurate processing of this data and agreement on joint business plans along the supply chain.
The process consists of three parts:
Demand forecasting: The creation of a projection for unconstrained demand for a product or service over time.
Demand planning: The development of a forecast that reflects known constraints and any possible associated impacts that may occur as a result of external events, capacity (either production or logistics) or changing priorities
Demand management: Influencing demand via the addition (or cancellation) of activity, the increasing or reduction of price, or the rationing or allocation of stock
