Options to delete CVCs from APO - DP .

As per the business requirement we may need to purge the CVCs in MPOS because some of these CVCs are no longer required for planning in future. There are some situations where we need to delete huge number of CVCs such as in thousands. In this section we will go through the different scenarios.

What are the options to delete CVCs from DP and Info cube?

Transaction for Creation, Display and Deletion of CVCs - /SAPAPO/MC62.

There are multiple options available to delete CVCs in APO-DP.

1. Delete Characteristics Combinations in MC62

Sometimes it may require to delete only few CVCs. In that case this option useful.

Note: This option can delete only one CVC at a time from MPOS. Here we can’t give multiple values.

   

2. Delete from a combination list.

Using this option of selection condition, it is possible to delete multiple CVCs at a time. But the limitation of this option is that the deletion will be done in foreground which utilizes more system resources leads to performance issues.

Apart from those above options there is a program to delete the CVCs.

3. Program - /SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_CONTENT_DEL

But this option will delete the time series data along with CVCs and make the planning area inactive. Not suggestable since there is a loss of planning data.

4. Realignment Option.

For example we have 25K CVCs which we need to delete from planning area.

Since there is no option to delete the entire 25K values using selection condition option.

So here we use the realignment option and instead of first deleting these 10K CVCs we would realign those 10K CVCs and then delete them.

Steps: 

1.       First we would put the target characteristic value as ‘RLTEST’ in the realignment table with ‘Delete source CVC’ option selected.

2.       Now we can use the option ‘Delete Characteristic Combination’ in MC62-give characteristic value as ‘RLTEST’ and execute in the background.
